money is not the root of evil : your pastor was utterly wrong 

​Many Christian churches teach against money as if having money is a sin or a curse. As a child, I use to hear Christian pastors preach mercilessly against money and I wondered how the rich members of the church felt listening to those sermons. But soon later you would see members of the church passing the tithe basket to collect money. What a hypocrisy! They seem like they hate money, but they depend on money to grow their church. Sadly, this all started with lack of understanding. Pastors have been erroneously teaching that God is against money. But when we read the Bible, we see the love of money is the problem, not money itself. Money is a coin, a piece of paper or some numbers on an online bank account, nothing more. 1 Timothy 6:10 “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” When you love money, there is nothing on your mind but money. You cannot do the work of God neither do you have the desire to do the work of God. In fact, you are willing to sell your soul for money because you love money. 1 Timothy 6:10 says “which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierce themselves through with many sorrows”. Money becomes a problem when you love it so much that it separates you from the righteousness of the Most-High. The Bible emphasize righteousness before wealth. Abraham was a wealthy man, but he was also a righteousness man. A righteousness man should be willing to lose everything for righteousness just like Job did. But when you love money and any material thing that you become attach to it and it is leading to your fall, you are on the wrong path.  As Israelites we believe our God will give us the ability to get wealth so long with do his righteousness. Joshua 1:8 says if we keep the Law we will prosper. Deuteronomy 8:18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swore unto thy fathers, as it is this day. So, there is no doubt that the Most-High our God is pro wealth. He wants us to be wealthy, he does not want us to be poor and beggars on this earth. However, the very first rule is to keep his laws, statues, and commandments, then we can enjoy our wealth in righteousness and not have to sell our soul for money.
